The owner’s objective for this interior renovation was to maximize the seating capacity of the cafe. The kitchen and washroom facilities were relocated in order to achieve this. Accessibility upgrades were also involved, including a new barrier free family washroom, designed to meet building code and AODA standards. Under a separate certificate of practice, Joel was also involved in renovations to the basement area of the cafe. This included lowering the basement floor level, where kitchen and administrative areas were relocated to. Provisions were also made to utilize the rest of the basement areas for future commercial use.
